to people with life-disrupting problems |
We distribute news about our work in a number of ways. Sometimes, other people are good enough to write about us.
We try to produce a Newsletter four times a year. This is sent to everyone on our mailing list. If you would like to receive a copy, please contact the office and give us your postal or email address.
This is circulated with 'StreetWise'.
We try to circulate a monthly prayer update.
We produce an Annual Report each year, which is distributed at the AGM in October. Paper copies are available from the office.

The next Sleep Out is getting close. If you would like to take part, either as an individual supporter, or as a group, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
Details of the sleep out are on the BCAN web site, on the Sleep Out page.
Siân has set up a JustGiving page for the CCM staff team, so if you can't take part in the Sleep Out, you can sponsor those of us who do. The page is the CCM Sleep Out Team page.
Towards the end of 2009, Channel 4 asked if we would mind them filming part of a program in our coffee shop for a few days. Of course, we said they were welcome, and they came and it all went very well. Then they came back and revealed that it was not actually a program about volunteering after all...
The provisional schedule is that the program will be broadcast on Channel 4, on Monday 1 March at 9 pm. We expect to get confirmation of this in a few days.
Our friends at One25 were also filmed, and we both received a gift from the Secret Millionaire. We are not quite sure how much more to say at this stage, but watch this spot... and tell all your friends to watch the program on 1 March! It should be an excellent piece of publicity for the work, and ties in brilliantly with fund-raising for the Queen Vic and moving The Wild Goose to Easton.
Thank you to everyone who made the AGM at Trinity Tabernacle on Monday 12 October such a success.
The big news at the AGM was that we have made an offer on a new property: the Queen Vic in Stapleton Road. Our offer has been accepted, and we have paid a deposit. But there is a lot more work to do before contracts are exchanged, so do please keep praying.
The full estimated cost of the project at present is around £450,000 but we anticipate some of this will be provided as gifts in kind.
As well as raising funds for this project, we would like to find two people to play a major part in the project: a fundraiser, and a project manager who has experience of building projects. If you might be able to offer to help in one of these ways, or know someone who might, please get in touch with us. Thank you very much.
Thank you to everyone who came to the prayer meeting at the Easton Christian Family Centre - it was a wonderful time. There was a deep sense of unity among the people present, from a wide variety of churches and organisations.
We will be seeking to move forward with the plan to purchase a new property in the Easton area, to be used as a base for our coffee shop.
Watch this space for more details...
Dear friends
Please can everyone encourage all CCM supporters to attend this prayer meeting, and to publicise it within their own churches and networks.
As many of you are aware the Wild Goose Coffee Shop has been looking for a new home for a long while now. The current shop seats 15, we are regularly serving over 250 meals a day, so it is clear that we need more space.
After much searching, it looks like we may have found a possible new property: the Queen Vic pub on Stapleton Road in Easton.
No decisions have been made, but we do feel this is an opportunity that we need to consider very seriously.
To help us with our choices we would like to invite you to a prayer and worship evening on Tuesday 28 July from 7.30 - 9.30 pm at the Easton Christian Family Centre.
If the Wild Goose moves, this would free up space in the present building for a new area of ministry. This is also something we need to be praying about, as we already have various ideas about the possibilities!
We will be praying for direction, certainty and unity over many issues including...
We are expecting to hear from God in a powerful way, and we would be delighted if you could join us.
If you have a word from God, or just something you would like to share with us, please let either myself or Paul know - especially if you cannot join us on the evening. We will make sure your contribution is heard and shared with others.
Please note that this replaces the prayer meeting which was previously scheduled for Thursday 30 July.
Kind regards
Siân
Office Manager
Crisis Centre Ministries
After a lengthy (and, at times, exhausting!) process, we have appointed two new members of staff. They will start at the beginning of July 2009, and we are very much looking forward to their arrival.
Please pray for Siân Morgan (our new Office Manager) and Steve Smith (our new Volunteer Support Coordinator) as they prepare to start working for us.
And please pray for all those who applied for a job with us, that they would know God's presence and guidance, and that they would know very soon where they should be and what they should be doing.
Thank you to everyone for praying about the Sleep Out on Friday 27 February. All the staff and two trustees took part, plus another ten or so dedicated supporters and family members. It was only a tiny bit damp, and everyone survived - and all the participants were in remarkably good spirits in the morning. Some of us even got a little sleep.
If anyone would like to sponsor us retrospectively, please feel free! Cheques, etc., are always acceptable, but you may find the easiest way is to donate online by following the link from the CCM web site, or by going directly to:
BBC Radio Bristol interviewed Alan Goddard twice. The Bristol Evening Post advertised the event beforehand, and did a follow-up piece the following Monday. Do let us know if you are aware of other mentions in the media. And please pray that this publicity helps people understand more about homelessness and the issues facing homeless people. We are particularly trying to highlight the need for more help - treatment, not just advice - for alcoholics in Bristol.
We counted 72 people sleeping out, from 12 different churches and organisations. So far, people have reported collecting an estimated £10,000 in sponsorship for homelessness charities in Bristol.
The Trustees have called a day of prayer and fasting on Saturday 29 November 2008, from 10 am to 4 pm. If you can join us at 12 City Road for any part of this time, you will be very welcome. If not, please join us if possible where you are.
We need a breakthrough in the issues around buildings: planning permission to enable us to continue to operate from our current building, and also our need for a larger and more suitable building for the coffee shop and, if possible, for the rest of what we do as well.
More specific prayer requests will be published before the day, but in summary: we need to know God's guidance and provision in this area.
