to people with life-disrupting problems |
The Wild Goose (previously known as The Missing Peace) is a coffee shop on City Road in St Pauls, Bristol - a well known street in the inner city. Established in 1986, it fulfils the first part of our vision at CCM. Its purpose is to provide a self referral point of contact at street level.
Rather than waiting for people to be ready to change, the Wild Goose provides people who are in the middle of difficult and destructive situations (actively involved in addiction, homeless, etc) the opportunity to meet with folk who willl be supportive and helpful. By providing food, a welcoming atmosphere and a listening ear we aim to build relationships which will provide a secure foundation for change.
This is a place where some practical needs can be met - hot meals, help with finding accommodation, benefits etc - where advice and support is available and where we can put people in touch with the resources they need.
We are also involved in outreach from the Wild Goose, specifically going to the places where our client group congregate and introducing them to the services we provide.
