The Wild Goose

Introduction

Ribbon

The Wild Goose is our drop-in centre - a coffee shop or café open to anyone, whether or not they have money to pay for something to eat and drink. Everyone is welcome.

The Wild Goose moved to our current location (32 Stapleton Road, Easton) in November 2010. It had previously been operating since 1986 (that's 24 years!) from 12 City Road, and for most of this time was known as The Missing Peace.

The Wild Goose is a self referral point of contact at street level, enabling people to access many other services. It is a vital part of our vision - to provide effective care for vulnerable people in the name of Jesus.

Rather than waiting for people to be ready to change, the Wild Goose provides practical help for people who are in the middle of difficult and destructive situations - people, for example, who are actively involved in addiction, who are homeless, not able to access benefits, and so on. It gives them the opportunity to meet our workers, staff and volunteers, who will be supportive and helpful. By providing food, a welcoming atmosphere and listening ear we aim to build relationships which will provide a secure foundation for change.

This is a place where some practical needs can be met - hot meals, help with finding accommodation, benefits and so on - where advice and support is available and where we can put people in touch with the resources they need.

We are also involved in outreach from the Wild Goose, going to the places where our clients can be found, and introducing them to the services we provide.
