Volunteers Newsletter for

New Coffee Shop Manager
Many of you will know by now that Nick Wood has been appointed as the new Coffee Shop Manager, with a contract that runs to the end of September.
Nick has been asked to tackle four key roles
- Continue to make the Wild Goose a safe, welcoming and happy place for both client's and our volunteers,
- To help our volunteers feel part of the team and make sure they have everything they need to fulfil their role.
- To oversee the pastoral work of the Coffee Shop, particularly in Sam's absence,
- To bring in reporting and recording procedures of what help is actually given to clients.
This last point is vital. Funding is always a problem and we need to be able to tell grant-making organisations just what we are achieving in order to get more funds.
About Nick
Nick has been helping in the Coffee Shop during the days for some time now. Many of you may also have met his lovely wife Corrina who has been volunteering in the office.
Nick and Corrina have six children between them and worship at Bristol Christian Fellowship.
Nick has previously been employed as a business manager with an investment company, but in recent years has been studying Pastoral Counselling with Network Christian Training, a similar course to the one Trudie has completed, and working in school with special needs children.
Nick Writes Hello, and thank you to all of you who have made me feel so welcome since becoming Coffee Shop Manager.
The first thing I wanted to do was initiate this newsletter, so that as Volunteers and Staff we can keep abreast of news and share ideas. An organisation that communicates well is an organisation that works well!
I hope that in the coming months I will get to know each of you personally. I am always happy to talk about any issue, and can always be contacted at the office.
I am particularly keen to meet all of you who either are or who want to work on the pastoral or outreach side of things. May The Lord bless you all as you carry out the wonderful work of the Crisis Centre.
Nick
Away day on 4th January
On the 4th of January a selection of staff, volunteers and Trustees met to discuss Annie Tunnicliffe's report into the current state of the Crisis Centre.
Two key things seemed to come out of the day.
- We miss Sam and the key role she plays. Please continue to pray for her that she will be restored to full health, and for all her needs at this time.
- That funding is becoming a major problem and unless we give this to The Lord in prayer the Crisis Centre as we know it may not be able to continue to function as we want it to.
In the next edition of the 'Link' we will look at what we as volunteers can do to help in the area of funding.
Calling all Volunteers
We urgently need to ensure that we have correct details of all of you who volunteer at CCM.
Please complete your form stating when you are normally available to work.
This will help us reduce the amount of effort needed each week in putting together rota's and help us identify where we need to plug any gaps.
We apologise if you've given this information before but it is vital we collate again if we are to work effectively.
If you know of a volunteer who, for any reason has not received this newsletter please let either Nick or Trudie know ASAP.
New meal-times
The 'Link' would love to hear back from any of you with comments about how the new day-time meal-times are going.
Please pass your comments to Jayne or Nick before the April issue.
Shopping On-Line
We are hoping to be shopping on-line very soon with our friends at Tesco Eastville.
If we find the system works it will save the valuable time and effort of volunteers that previously had to shop by hand, and a few sore backs!!
WANTED
Volunteers urgently needed!
We always need more volunteers, particularly in the coffee shop.
If you know any one who may be willing to help in any way, even by washing up or sweeping the floor please put them in contact with Jayne.
We currently need more volunteers particularly on Tuesdays in the day and on Thursday nights.
Donation Corner
We are pleased to inform you of the following donations recently received
A new microwave, cups and saucepans - Mrs Sennell.
IKEA vouchers from the shop itself, soon to be spent!
A new Epson printer for the office - Mrs C Wood.
Thank you!!! (apologies to those we've missed)
Next Issue Any items for inclusion in the next edition of the 'Link' should be given to any member of staff or sent to Nick, via the office.
