Prayer Letter
March 2003

Praying for Crisis Centre Ministries,
its work, staff and clients
in the context of Bristol's inner city areas.

From Jayne

Please pray for more volunteers and for the people who are helping us. Also pray for Trudie and the work she is doing, that God will give her strength.

From Andy

There is an exciting development regarding LITE, and it relates to Andrew House in Clevedon. You may recall that CCM had, on attachment, Chris Hibbs and he was researching the possibility of setting up supportive accommodation in Clevedon for people coming out of drug/alcohol rehabilitation. This research has been productive and Andrew House is in the process of being set up. Chris has approached CCM in connection with the LITE Course and is keen for this training to be available to the young men who will be living at Andrew House – which means that from about the middle of April I will be spending some time at Andrew House introducing the teaching programme. Your prayers for this would be really good.

Please also pray for the way ahead for LITE. We are thinking of changing the way the programme is offered in the hope of engaging more with the client group. At present the plan is to provide something like drop-in training sessions.

From Paul

Our Trustees have sent letters out to many of our supporters with an update on the ministry and sharing our plans for the future, specifically in connection with our wish to increase our staff team and, at some point, move into a larger property. So far there has been an encouraging response to these letters. Please pray that they continue to be well received.

We also have a team of people who have been giving time to fund raising, and we have been exploring appointing someone with responsibility for PR and fund raising for the organisation. We would appreciate your prayers regarding this: if we are to go forward as a ministry in the way that we consider is appropriate, then our income will need to increase considerably.

Nick Wood has been appointed, on a 6 month short term contract, as coffee shop manager on a part-time basis. This role is something we see as essential to the shop and to the ministry. We are grateful to God (and to Nick!) for the opportunity we have at the present time to support and enable the staff and volunteers in the shop and to develop this part of the ministry. Please pray for Nick as he takes up the responsibilities involved and works with the team to explore and clarify the details, extent and future of this role. At the end of 6 months we hope to be in a position to advertise and appoint someone to the position on a more permanent basis.

Please pray for our Duty Managers as they take on increasing responsibilities in the shop.

The next BCAN training is on 8 March and we would appreciate your prayers for that.

Please continue to pray for Sam and the way ahead for her.

From Trudie

If you have received a copy of our Newsletter, you may have read my article about the in-between time we seem to be in. Please pray for us in this place of not yet having the resources we need to develop – that this experience will be productive and that God will work in us as a team according to his purposes.

Administration needs continue. Two people have expressed an interest in helping out in the office on Monday afternoons (but we only have space for one!).

A number of clients are seriously wanting to change and working hard to find a way forward. We are seeing a growing number of clients coming to Bridgehead on Wednesday lunchtimes – please pray that they will experience this as something significant to their present situation. One young lady has recently started going to Woodlands (as well as using all the resources we are able to provide) and we are so grateful to God for the warmth and encouragement she is receiving there – please pray that good relationships will develop for her and that she will continue to work together with God to build up her life. Another is struggling with drugs and other lifestyle issues – it is so easy for her to become submerged in the difficulties. A young man is presently on work placement and this is providing a very good experience for him – please pray that God will continue to encourage him in this way. There are other clients who are moving into rehabilitation (it is not an easy process to be able to find places) and we do have a sense of working together with God. Please continue to pray that people’s lives will be changed.

OUR NEXT PRAYER MEETING IS ON MONDAY 14 APRIL, 7.30 pm AT CCM
