Prayer Letter July 2003
Praying for Crisis Centre Ministries, its work, staff and
clients in the context of Bristol's inner city
areas.
Thank you so much for praying for us. My apologies that I did not issue a prayer sheet in June. If you would like to receive a copy of our Newsletter, please get in touch.
We asked you to pray about our need for a coffee shop manager, and we have been able to advertise a full-time paid position. This is a major decision for an organisation of our size, and involves a significant increase in our salary commitments. Our financial situation is presently fairly healthy, but this appointment is a step of faith and we would be so grateful if you would please continue to pray that we will receive sufficient income to cover the increased expenditure.
Please pray for the people who have applied for this position, for the Trustees and all involved in the selection procedure, that the right person is appointed to the job. Nick Wood's involvement on part-time basis for the past few months has had a tremendously positive impact on the work of the coffee shop and clearly confirmed the importance of a coffee shop manager.
Sam continues to be on long-term sick leave - please continue to pray for her. Her role with us was to co-ordinate pastoral care and we have been exploring with volunteers how we can develop this aspect of our work. We recently had a productive meeting and would appreciate your prayers that more people will volunteer to be involved in the work of CCM in this way, that we will be in a position to be able to put into practice the decisions which have been made and that our involvement in this way will be fruitful in the lives of our clients.
Please pray for our General Manager, Paul. After spending time with individuals and attending meetings, there is not enough time for the paperwork which continues to accumulate in his office. Please pray that someone will become available to help him in this area.
Nick Wood has put a great deal of work into organising a refit of the kitchen in The Wild Goose. We plan to shut the shop for three weeks in August to allow for the necessary work, and also to operate a limited service from a property nearby. Please pray about all the arrangements, practicalities, work, personnel etc involved in this. Our plan is to have an official opening of the new kitchen in September.
As well as the kitchen refit, Jayne asks that we pray for all the people who are involved with CCM, and particularly for Alan and the outreach team.
LITE at Andrew House in Clevedon is gradually building with 7 people being involved on the training each week. Please continue to pray for this aspect of our work, and for the operation of LITE at City Road. The more flexible approach we have adopted is engaging with some clients, but the challenge continues to be to the lack of consistent motivation with our client group. It seems that offering an opportunity to move forward is not 'comfortable' to our clients and is unfamiliar enough for them not to easily engage.
Please continue to pray for ASPIRE and the work they are doing in connection with work opportunities, and particularly for Paul who is heading up this group locally.
Our volunteers would also appreciate your prayers. They are such an encouragement to us, being willing to give freely of their time to help our in various ways. The involvement can be both demanding and rewarding and your prayers for their protection, encouragement and fruitful contacts with clients would be so much appreciated. The more volunteers we have, the more people we can support and reach out to. Please continue to pray for more volunteers for all aspects of the ministry.
