Chapel of the Prodigal Son
Prayer Letter
February 2004

We thank you for all of your prayers,
we recognise that your prayers are essential
to the work of the Ashfield Chaplaincy

    Christmas

Christmas '03 was a wonderful time in Ashfield. We did a Christmas extravaganza that went very well. Everyone that came said how great it was to see the lads performing and demonstrating their talents. Thank you for your prayers over the Christmas period.

    Please pray for:

Lads who have made Christian commitments, we currently have 46 lads whom we are discipling:

DEAN, VINCENT, STEPHEN, MARCUS, THOMAS, LARRY, ASHLEY, JAMES, KIERAN, RICHARD, MARK , RICHARD ADRIAN, RAYMOND, BEN, NICKY, LEWIS, RYAN, LEROY, ANTHONY, JESSE, SHAUN, ANTHONY, MARTIN, BEN, GARETH, MARK, SEAN, MICHAEL, JONATHAN, ANTHONY, JAMES, RYAN, MARK, DYLAN, RUSSELL, DAVID, MARTYN, CRAIG, ROBIN, RHYS, JAMES, JON, LUKE, ROBERT.

    Courses:

    Sorted Introduction to Christianity
Changing on the Inside Dealing with feelings and inner change
Gospel according to Hollywood Introduction to gospel using movies
    Movement Christian Drama
Music Starting a chapel music group

    Pray:
That God would use these courses to impact the young men's lives For those leading the courses.

    The chaplaincy team:

    • NICK HAY,
    • DAVE JEAL,
    • MARTIN O'BRIEN,
    • ANDREW WALLIS,
    • SILAS CRAWLEY,
    • RICHARD JONES,
    • BERNARD MASSEY,
    • FRANCES HOUGHTON,
    • SUE LEY
    • VIV ASHWORTH

Plus many volunteers who come in to help with the courses, admin, discipling and evangelism.
In total our team now numbers 26 people. Praise God!!

    Life on the 'out'

This is still a very important prayer request as we really want the power of God to impact their lives to the full

It is a strong desire of the chaplaincy to see effective aftercare of the lads. We have a network of churches, which is ever growing, who are linked to the prison. Our prayer is to see the lads who make commitment's 'inside' to carry on being discipled on the 'out'. Life, once the lads are released, is usually extremely difficult, please pray that the aftercare will be useful and that the lads respond to it.

    New Job Vacancy

We are either looking for a full time volunteer or funding for a full time position to project manage the Prodigal Son Ministries Charity and be PA to the Senior Chaplain.

The work at Ashfield is going well and as always it is a privilege to serve God in this way. There is nothing like seeing these young men coming to a realisation that somebody does care and that someone does love them. Being part of a life changing experience is a great honour and joy. Please keep up your commitment to pray for the work at Ashfield.

    God Bless You

    The Ashfield Chaplaincy Team
