Prayer Letter
July 2004

Praying for Crisis Centre Ministries,
its work, staff and clients
in the context of Bristol's inner city areas.

My apologies that you haven't heard from us for some time. June has been a really busy time for us as team as we were away for a weekend in Glasgow at a congress in urban mission, called Jesus in the City, and we were also working towards our Open Day on 26 June.

Preparing for the Open Day helped us identify again changes that have taken place in the lives of our clients and I recommend that you read our Newsletter for more detail. We hope to circulate our Newsletter in three weeks or so.

    • Please pray that for motivation for change among our clients and for CCM staff to be able to use their skills to engage well with this motivation. We have mentioned a number of times, in this update and elsewhere, that our clients do not maintain motivation or enthusiasm for long and any positive development or change is hampered by this.

    • As a ministry, we have plans for development; and this was mentioned in a recent newsletter. Please pray for us as we seek to raise funds and to extend our admin team to make this possible. At present one of our Trustees, Andy, is giving time voluntarily to concentrate on fund raising and we would value your prayers that this will be productive.

    • Please pray for the Art Group, that participants will understand the value of growth, development and commitment. For further information on this group, feel free to contact the office.

    • We need more volunteers in the shop, particularly Monday daytime, Tuesday evenings and Friday evenings. Please join us in praying about this.

    • Monday evenings in the shop (when volunteers from Vineyard run the session) are going really well and we would like to build similar working relationships with other churches.

    • BCAN and the Homeless Forum. This is a valuable provision in the city. Please pray for those involved, the networking, mutual support, decision making, influence on services for the homeless in the city.

    • We continue to be so amazingly grateful to the many people who volunteer with us in various capacities and we invite you to celebrate with us the difference they are making in the lives of our clients. So many times we have asked you to pray for more volunteers and God has answered these prayers. Thank you for praying and our thanks to God for his provision.

    • We are tremendously grateful to God and our supporters for the finances we are receiving and the increase in regular monthly giving.

    Update on people mentioned previously:

J is doing well. He is in permanent, part-time work; in a steady relationship; developing his relationship with God. Please pray that he will continue to grow.

D, mentioned previously, was recently baptised! Pray for her as she continues to be enthusiastic about getting closer to God and rebuilding her life without addiction.

M has been having a difficult time in relation to his girlfriend and their child. Please pray that he will be motivated to build up his own life and use the opportunities and resources which are available to do this.

P has done well on our training course and has had some interesting work placements. Pray that God will reveal the way forward for him so that he can build on what he has gained so far.

Y continues to struggle with various issues in her life. Pray that she will see the benefit of accepting the offer of accommodation which has been made.

    New people:

JJ has been motivated to change for some time, despite circumstances which have not supported this. He is very responsive to God. Please pray that he will continue to respond to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and be successful in finding the support and opportunities he needs to go forward in his life

SS has had a difficult life and circumstances have recently become more settled for her. Please pray that she will seek and find truth

G has been using drugs for some time and is considering change. He is not finding it easy and it may be that he doesn't have much to look forward to without drugs.

KK dropped into the shop recently. In something of a crisis situation having lost confidence and tending to hide away from life. Please pray that she will meet people who encourage her and that she will find suitable accommodation.
