Prayer Letter
September 2007

Praying for Crisis Centre Ministries,
its work, staff and clients
in the context of Bristol's inner city areas.

Dear Prayer supporters

It has been a productive and busy summer here at the Crisis Centre. From gradual changes in the coffee shop to Wednesday walks around the local area, chatting to folk on the streets, life here seems to be constantly changing.

Over the past few weeks we have had donated a substantial amount of dried and tinned food, for which we are very grateful. In fact we had so much we were able to share it around some of the other organizations locally which will serve, we hope, to continue to build bridges with similar groups in the area.

Alan has brought with him an enormous amount of energy resulting in being able to help quite a few needy people into detox and rehab even in the past few weeks.

Trudy felt inspired to go to meet up with people gathering to drink in Brunswick Square each Wednesday afternoon. This was a rather daunting project (especially for Andy and I) but we felt the recent visits have been good. We have had several good conversations with old and new clients in the Square, have been able to tell them about the love of Jesus and to point them in the direction of the Wild Goose. We have been pleased to see some of those we have talked to come in to the coffee shop and we pray they will be able to access help where needed and to feel the love of Christians and God.

Andy ran a very successful breakfast at the beginning of August called 'LITE Bite' arranged for workers from hostels and other professionals working with our client group. About 16 came along, the breakfasts were very well received and all in all it was an excellent team building exercise. LITE started this Monday with seven students and today (Thursday) ten students came along. So we are really pleased with the attendance!

Please pray -

  1. *For the clients coming into the coffee shop each session.* Pray for a real presence of the Holy Spirit in the shop, so that people feel calmed and safe when they come in.
  2. *For those we have recently met in Brunswick Square.* Pray for change in their lives, for a desire to change and a hunger for Jesus.
  3. *For the Polish lad we have been recently emailing about.* Pray for God's steadying hand on him and for the final amount of money we need to provide him with a safe place to stay and receive help. (Thank you everyone for donations so far, we have almost reached our target!!)
  4. *For the new students on the LITE course.* Pray for a good sense of unity and enthusiasm amongst the students, for opportunities to share the gospel and for Andy and volunteers as they lead the course.
  5. *For all the staff and volunteers.* Pray for wisdom to deal with the daily challenges faced with dealing with clients, administrative decisions, managing the shop and running the LITE course. Also for Paul's health, please pray for an improvement.
  6. *Finances.* Please pray for our daily finances, that God will continue to to provide all our needs. We have been donated £175 towards a new cooker, so we are praying for more money to enable us to replace our rapidly failing one.

Thank you for being willing to pray and support us. If you would like any more information about what we do or how you can support in other ways please contact the office.

With all good wishes

Claire Collins
