Prayer Letter
July 2008
Praying for Crisis Centre Ministries,
its work, staff
and clients
in the context of Bristol's inner city areas.
Dear friends
This is a short prayer letter just hi-lighting just some additional
items that we would appreciate prayer for. I am also including a recent
email from Sheila who is a Monday night Duty Manager and her team of
volunteers make sandwiches and serve cakes every fortnight. Sheila
recently was involved in a car accident whilst away in USA and we are
very pleased that she is making a good recovery and that she is back
with us at the Wild Goose.
Please pray for the following:
- One of our regular clients who has been making really good
progress but today is feeling very down and talking about suicide
as his situation and future seems so daunting. Please pray for a
safe place for him to live with support and care.
- For Lisa (Assistant Drop in/Coffee Shop Manager) who had an asthma
attack on Sunday and had to go to hospital. Please pray for a
speedy recovery and for time to rest and get well.
- For the clients Trudie sees each week. She especially would like
you to pray for new volunteers to help with some of the families
she sees as she is due to retire in October and needs to be able
to have time for new relationships to begin to be built with the
new volunteers before she finishes.
- LITE - The current LITE finishes this Thursday - please prayer for
the three students who have come along to the course.
- Andy is pioneering a new form of LITE course to be held at the
Compass Centre, Jamaica Street from this September. It would be
great if you could pray that this goes smoothly and that he has
lots of new students.
- From out of the LITE Course Claire and Andy have been running an
Alpha-type course called 'Sorted'. We have had only one regular
student but he has found this beneficial and last Monday he was
clearly touched by the Holy Spirit and prayed during the meeting.
Please pray for him and also that others come along too.
- Trip to Noah's Ark Farm - Trudie and Claire are arranging a trip
with some clients and their families plus some of the LITE
students to Noah's Ark Farm on Tuesday 15th July. Please pray for
a break in the weather(!) and for a great time for everyone.
- Alan has been contacted by two young Christian lads from Germany
who would like to come to help at the Wild Goose for a week in
August (11 - 16). If anyone could accommodate either or both of them for
that week, please could you get in touch.
Thanks for your prayers and your love. Newsletter on it's way with lots
more information about what's happening here.

The following is an email from Sheilah Edwards.
Hi All
Back on the job again and all healed up.
A great night, but absolutely packed out. We used 20 loaves, 16 made
up before and another 4 using the CCM bread, ( hope that was all right
Alan - our fillings). I did two large Bread & Butter Puddings when we
got there and had also bought a very large apple pie from Costco and
everything went - not a scrap left over.
The night was peaceful tho' a bit noisy due to so many people. Once up
the road 30 yards or so a shouting match started but didn't come to
anything. So "Thank you God that you were very present and in charge"
We now have a full Team and Home Church Saturday nights led by Chris are
going really well with clientèle building up. This is the night that
it's all about really.
Here are a couple of prayer request about a couple of guys, details
given to me by Chris:-
People to pray for:
- A young man (M), he feels that he is becoming an alcoholic and wants to
stop before it gets out of hand.
- (E), I can see it in his eyes how tired he is and wants help but he is
so far down the road of being homeless it is hard to reach him and also
talk to him when he is sober.
That's all for this time. Still need prayer for someone apart from
Grace who can take over from me when I'm away or sick. Thank you all
for your prayers and team for your hard work as we were so busy all the
time Monday, most of us went home exhausted.
Love and God Bless
Sheilah
