Praying for Crisis Centre Ministries,
its work, staff
and clients
in the context of Bristol's inner city areas.
Dear friends
The sleep out went really well! We had people aged from 14 to their mid-80s sleeping out on a cold and slightly damp night in the car park of Pip'n'Jay church. We managed to generate publicity and interest from the Evening Post and Radio Bristol.
Although we are still collecting money and don't yet have a final total, it looks like we will raise around £3,500 for CCM, and the total for all the projects involved will probably be just over £10,000. Thank you for your prayers and support on the night!
Please continue to pray for us as we consider moving premises. There are several options open to us at the moment and the staff and trustees need wisdom and faith in order to make a decision.
On a practical note, please pray for finance as any move we make will incur costs beyond what we have at our disposal right now.
Please pray for the oven as it keeps breaking down!
Please also pray for new volunteers - longer hours mean we need more people who would be willing to give their time in the kitchen. It would be great to have some more people in the coffee shop who wanted to serve and share their faith with the people there.
Please pray for the 5 people currently on the LITE course that they will gain the skills and confidence needed to rebuild their lives. Please pray specifically for B; she has been out of prison now since the beginning of April and, apart from two small lapses, has remained off alcohol and is doing well. Please pray for continued strength of will for her and renewed hope for the future. She has joined a church in South Bristol and is keen to get baptised!
Last month we mentioned E; please keep praying that things will change for him. He has alcohol dementia and seems to have been written off by many agencies as having no hope. We know there is hope so please keep praying for a safe, supportive home for him.
Please pray for C. She is pregnant and using drugs and does not want to keep the baby. She is isolating herself and is on a path of self-destruction. Please pray that she will re-engage with the support she has had in the past and also will turn to God as she has made a commitment in the past.
There is a young woman of 16 who has started coming to the coffee shop. She is very vulnerable and at risk of sexual exploitation. Please pray that she will recognise her need for support.
There are two babies due to two women who are in active addiction. Both babies will probably be removed by Social Services when they are born. Please pray for these two women at this most distressing time.
We are currently advertising two vacancies at CCM: Volunteer Support Coordinator and Office Manager. If you would like more details about either of these please see the website and note that the closing date is 22 May. Please pray for us that the right people apply and we make wise choices about the appointments.
Every blessing,
Paul Hazelden
